Pastor Dean Murphy, Sr. Pastor

Pastor Dean Murphy has been the pastor of New Song Calvary Chapel since its beginning in 1993. Before he first became a pastor in 1979, he'd worked in the Air Force, Real Estate, pizza and pancakes. He and his wife, Helen have been married for 39 years. They were high school sweethearts, married shortly after Helen's graduation and soon shipped off to Biloxi, Mississipi for Dean's service in the Air Force. After a move back to Southern California at the end of his stint in the Air Force, Dean graduated from Cal State San Bernardino. Dean and Helen opened two pizza restaurants, realized "Big Business" was costing them their family and marriage, sold the business and moved to Mt. Shasta, California.

It was in Mt. Shasta, where Dean and Helen had gone to reconnect and build a family that they came to know Jesus Christ. They opened a small restaurant called "The Breakfast House" and decided to go to church . . . "for the kids". Dean was 30 years old when he heard the Gospel for the first time. The family jumped immediately into serving the Lord, and by 1979, Dean was in the midst of completing a Theological Course of Study and was a full time Pastor.

In 1981, Pastor Dean came back to Southern California to pastor a small church in Lake Elsinore. After a period of unprecedented growth, denominational compromise and problems led Pastor Dean and a group of leaders from that church to form New Song Community Church in January 1993. In 1994 New Song joined with the fellowship of Calvary Chapel churches.

Because of his own story, Pastor Dean has a passion for bringing a clear Gospel presentation to everyone in our community, nation and world. New Song has been privileged to work with the "Somebody Loves You Crusades" and partnering with several missions organizations in order to "preach the Gospel" everywhere God opens the door.

Pastor Dean has a passion for Jesus Christ and a desire for seeing our families, friends and neighbors become disiciples of Jesus Christ. His desire is to serve the Lord and lead the church family at New Song Calvary Chapel in growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
